(2011): Saw action in 23 games while making six starts … Made 20 appearances on the mound including four starts … Finished tied for the team lead with three complete games … Threw 51.2 innings racking up a team best 36 strikeouts along the way … Finished the season with a 3-6 record while also picking up five saves … Finished with a 6.31 strikeouts per nine innings ratio … Left-handed hitters hit just .140 against the side-arm specialist … Had a 2.4 strikeout to walk ratio, and averaged 12.89 groundouts per game ... Finished 7th in the NCAC in ERA (3.31), 3rd in saves (5), and 2nd in batting average against (.213) … Named Second Team All-NCAC selection.

(2010): Had one of the most successful seasons on the mound in Oberlin history … Used primarily as the team’s closer, he set school records in appearances (22), relief appearances (20), and saves (6), while also tying teammate Jack Dunn’s NCAC-era record of six wins … Finished the season leading the team in innings pitched (55), strikeouts (50), ERA (2.78) and batting average against (.227) … Also started 13 games behind the plate where he hit .211 and stole six bases … Threw the team’s lone shutout in a complete game gem against Allegheny (4/23/10) when he gave up only two hits, while striking out eight … Named First -Team All-NCAC and American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) All-Mideast Region Third Team … Used a .975 fielding percentage to be named American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) All-Mideast Region Gold Glove Winner as a pitcher.

(2009): As a sophmore... Phil made 10 starts going 3-6 on the mound. He pitched 55.1 innings tallying 36 K's with only 10 walks. He had a 7.13 ERA. With limited time at the plate he accumulated 6 hits with 2 doubles.

Prior to Oberlin: Phil is a 2007 graduate of Avon High School in Avon, Ohio. At Avon Phil excelled in both the classroom and athletics. Phil made the Honor Roll all four years and was a member of the National Honor Society. He was a three year letter winner in football and baseball and two year letter winner in basketball. Phil was Captain of both the baseball and basketball teams his Senior year.

Phil earned some accolades for his performance on the field during his career at Avon. His Junior year he was first team all-county for baseball and honorable mention all-county for football. The following season, Phil received honorable mention all-conference and all-county for baseball while receiving first team all-conference and honorable mention all-county awards for football. Phil was named the Male Athlete of the Year during his Senior year.

Phil was born on April 3, 1989 and is the son of Scott and Lauri Brua. Phil plays his summer ball in a local Semi-Pro League. Phil is a prospective Sociology Major.
