Matt Wilson

Matt Wilson enters his tenth season as the Yeomen's catching and first base coach in 2021.

In 2019 and 2017 he mentored catcher Brendan Mapes to All-NCAC First-Team honors and Second-Team ABCA All-Region accolades

In 2019, Mapes started all 38 games, hitting a team-high .441 after starting all 40 games behind the dish in 2017, finishing fifth in the NCAC with a team-high .403 batting average while throwing out 17-of-44 would-be base stealers for a 38.6 percent clip.

In 2013 he guided an Oberlin backstop unit that gunned down 24 would-be base stealers which was second-best in the NCAC. The team's 10 total pickoffs were also good for second-best in the conference. Primary catcher Blaise Dolcemaschio threw out 12-of-35 (34.2%) runners and also accounted for seven pickoffs.

A native of Bettsville, Ohio, Wilson played four years of collegiate baseball at NCAA Division III Otterbein University. During his time the Cardinals won the Ohio Athletic Conference Championship and were also ranked No. 1 in the country.

After his four years of eligibility, Wilson was invited back to coach with the Cardinals for a season as he finished his bachelor's degree in education in 2011.
