Brandon Jossey

Brandon Jossey enters his fourth season in 2020 as the lead assistant coach and hitting coach for the Oberlin College baseball team.

In 2019 Oberlin hit a school record .331 as a team. Three hitters including Brendan Mapes, Lawrence Hamilton and Alexis Castillo went on to receive All-NCAC awards. A total of six hitters hit above .300 on the year.

Under Jossey's guidance Mapes broke the individual single season hit record with 63 hits on his way to hitting a conference-best .441.

In his first season, Jossey's hitters finished fourth in the NCAC with a team batting average of .313. Oberlin produced its second most hits in a season all-time (441) while Mapes was fourth in the league with a .403 average en route to earning first-team All-NCAC and third-team all-region honors. A total of six hitters hit above .300 in 2017.

In 2018 senior Milo Sklar earned All-NCAC honors as a utility player, batting a team-high .370.

During his tenure Jossey implemented in-depth self and opponent scouting tools to the program such as video analysis and detailed charting.

In 2019 he was also featured in the College Baseball Match Podcast the "Dugout", speaking on the recruiting process in college baseball.

Prior to Arriving at Oberlin, he spent time working as a volunteer assistant coach at the University of South Carolina Upstate where he worked closely with the Spartans' outfielders and catchers while also coaching the hitters.  
 
He previously served as a graduate assistant coach at Seton Hill University in Greensburg, Pennsylvania. While on staff with the Griffins, Jossey coached hitting and outfield play and manned the first base coaching box.
 
In his two seasons on staff, he played a large roll in recruiting and helping the Griffins to two seasons of over 40 wins. Jossey assisted Seton Hill in reaching two NCAA Division II Regionals and mentored two All-American hitters.
 
His playing career started at Ohlone Community College in Fremont, California before he moved on to Seton Hill to complete his bachelor's degree in sports management.
 
On the diamond he played in two super regionals at Ohlone and was part of a College World Series appearance with Seton Hill in 2014.
 
Jossey, who earned a master's of business administration from Seton Hill in May of 2016 also coaches in the summer for the Lake Erie Warhawks organization.
