Fencing

The Oberlin College Fencing Club, also known as the Flaming Blades, is Oberlin's oldest chartered club sport. Members practice three times a week with all three weapons to hone skills in sabre, foil, and épée. The team competes in the Midwestern Fencing Conference, Club Fencing Championships, and attends and hosts United States Fencing Association meets - always in the signature uniform rainbow socks. The club has an armory for personal storage, and provides outfits and equipment for team members as needed. The Flaming Blades are currently fortunate to have a coach, Johnny Ionut, from Hooked on Fencing come twice a week for footwork and lessons. For those without experience, a fencing exco is offered each semester!
