(2010): Played in 35 games while starting in 33 of those games … Finished fourth on the team in hits (33), at bats (102), total plate appearances (119), batting average (.324), slugging percentage (.451), on-base percentage (.385), and total bases (46) … Tied for team lead in walks with 11 … Led the team with three sacrifice flies and 10 stolen bases on 11 attempts, good for a team-leading .909 stolen base percentage … Finished second and third on the team in RBIs and runs scored, respectively … Posted a season-high eight game hitting streak in a span of seven days from March 23 to March 30.
(2009): As a sophomore.... Ben played in 35 games, making 34 starts. Ben hit .299 with 97 at bats, 16 runs scored, 3 doubles, 1 triple, 1 home run, and was tied for the team lead with 11 stolen bases.
Prior to Oberlin: Ben is a 2007 graduate ot St. John's Jesuit High School in Toledo, Ohio. Ben graduated with a 3.8 cumulative GPA (Summa Cum Laude) and made the Honor Roll every quarter in high school. Ben was a three-year letter winner and a three year mainstay in the pitching rotation while starting in the outfield for two years as well. Ben received All-League Honorable Mention and All-District 2nd team his Junior year. His Senior year he received 1st team All-District and 2nd team All-City
Ben enjoys spending time with his parents, friends, girlfriend and five brothers. He also enjoys playing golf, cards, sports, and weightlifting. Ben spends his summer working at a bank, playing baseball, and reading.
Ben was born on August 25, 1988 and is the son of Mark and Mary Lou Kauder. Ben has five brothers, Zach, Joses, Solomon, Amos, and Kirk. He also has a dog named Esther and a cat named Nicole. Ben is a Economics major and Politics minor and plans to attend business school to pursue an MBA degree.
