(2011): Saw action in nine games, recording eight starts on the season … Made seven appearances on the mound, starting in six games … In 25 innings of work, recorded 23 strikeouts, but also walked 21 … Nearly threw a no-hitter against Hiram College (4/30/11) as he carried a no-hitter into the seventh inning … In that game, threw 6.2 innings, giving up only one hit, while striking out seven.
(2010): Saw action in 33 games, getting the starting nod in 30 games … Despite a shaky year defensively, he was still able to post respectable offensive numbers finishing third on the team with a .326 batting average and second in on-base percentage at .407 … Finished the season second on the team in stolen bases (8) and stolen base percentage (.889) … Increased level of play in NCAC contests posting a .341 batting average, .545 slugging percentage, and .396 on-base percentage, while also hitting his two home runs in … Also saw action on the mound in five games, getting four starts on the bump, posting a record of 2-1 … Despite only throwing 18 innings, finished tied for third on the team with 16 strikeouts.
(2009): As a freshman.... Jason started 15 games in the field as a mid-season replacement at shortstop. He hit .273 with 2 doubles, 1 home run, 1 triple, and 7 R.B.I.'s. Jason was 1-4 on the mound, making 6 starts. He had an E.R.A. of 7.84, and had 15 strikeouts and 17 walks.
Prior to Oberlin: Jason is a 2008 graduate of Mullen High School in Lakewood, Colorado. Jason was an excellent student as he graduated fifth in his class and received National Merit Recognition and the Lauren Barth Memorial Scholarship. Jason is also very active in the community as he earned the Jeffco Certificate of Recognition for Community Service. On the baseball diamond, Jason was a two-year letter winner for the Mullen Mustangs and went 4-0 on the mound his Senior season. He received First Team All-Centennial League and Academic First Team All-State in 2007 and 2008.
Jason plays his summer ball for the Colorado Athletics. He is an Eagle Scout, his favorite sports team is the St. Louis Cardinals, and his favorite athlete is Greg Maddux.
Jason was born on December 13, 1989 and is the son of Bryan James & Marcia McConnell.
