Westlake, Ohio – As announced by the league office on Tuesday morning,
Hailey Alspach and
Anjali Singh have earned North Coast Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week honors.
Alspach earns her first-career pitcher of the week honors after leading Oberlin to a dominant weekend in the circle, going 3-0 across four appearances while contributing offensively.
The California native opened the weekend with a complete-game performance in a 3-2 win over Centre, allowing just two runs on five hits with six strikeouts and no walks, securing head coach
Julie Pratt's 400th career victory. She followed with another complete game against Berea, striking out a career-high 10 in a 5-3 win to earn her fifth victory of the season.
In the series finale against Berea, Alspach delivered 4.2 innings of relief, allowing just one hit while striking out seven to preserve a 10-8 win. Across the weekend, she totaled 23 strikeouts while also adding hits, RBIs, and five stolen bases at the plate.
Singh, a rookie out of California, delivered a standout offensive week, batting .583 to help Oberlin secure three wins across a four-game road stretch.
The first-year opened the week with a triple and a run scored in a 3-2 victory over Centre. She followed with a dynamic performance in the second game of the doubleheader, recording a hit, three walks, two runs scored, and five stolen bases.
She continued her strong play against Berea, going 3-for-3 with a run scored in a 5-3 win before adding two more hits, including a double, and two runs in a 10-8 victory to complete the doubleheader sweep. Across the week, Singh totaled seven hits, five runs scored, and multiple stolen bases to spark the Yeowomen offense.
The duo takes the diamond again this weekend when the team heads to central Florida for their spring break trip. Oberlin opens their visit to THE Spring Games against Westminster on Sunday, March 22 at 10 a.m.
