Albion, Michigan – Led with six goals from
Kylie Thompson, the Oberlin College women's lacrosse team continued their undefeated streak as they cruised past Albion 17-3, advancing to 6-0 overall.
In addition to the sophomore's game-high six goals, Thompson added a trio of assists to register a career-high nine points. Megan Hiller secured a hat trick with three goals while also adding three assists for six points, while Mary Rodman and Olivia Corradi recorded two goals apiece.
Katie McMorris and Maddie Weathers produced four draw controls each. Phoebe Dolan and Olivia Mohel each tallied a trio of ground balls and notched two caused turnovers apiece.
Emily Berger started in net, accumulating four saves over 25:27. Taryn Schwartz checked in for just over 20 minutes, adding a pair of saves and allowing one goal. Janny McCormick checked in for just under six minutes, while Asha Blewett wrapped up the game for Oberlin, posting his collegiate debut.
Albion opened winning the draw and sending a shot on goal as Berger made the save. Thompson opened with her first goal of the game at 12:18, helping the Crimson and Gold increase their edge to 2-0 just over a minute later as her pass to Hiller found the back of the net. A minute later, Rodman extended Oberlin's lead to three on a free position opportunity.
The Yeowomen continued to roll ahead for the remainder of the opening quarter as Rodman connected with Sophie Ward, and Thompson added four more goals, lifting Oberlin to an 8-0 edge entering the second period.
The game slowed down in the second session with the Crimson and Gold's lone goal coming from the stick of Lauren Deardorf, while Berger posted two saves. Oberlin continued their hot scoring streak early in the third, winning the draw as Corradi scored in the opening minute. Maddie Darlington lifted Oberlin to an 11-point edge off the free position as Albion scored their first goal at 10:28. Keeping them out of the net for the remainder of the frame, Thompson, Phoebe Dolan, Corradi, and Rodman each converted shots into goals.
The fourth quarter leveled as Oberlin's two goals came from Hiller. Sandwiched between Hiller's goals, Albion notched a pair of goals, one coming from a man-up opportunity. Capitalizing on their high-scoring start, the Crimson and Gold secured the 17-3 victory.
"Really proud of the team's energy and focus today, we've been talking about coming out hot from the start, and that definitely came to fruition today," Head Coach Malory Nadrah adds. "Big shoutout to our draw unit in showing great grit and hustle on the circle all game long."
Oberlin returns home on Wednesday, March 18, when they host Otterbein. The opening draw is scheduled for 6 p.m.
