Greenwood, Indiana – Three members of the Oberlin College softball team were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District list.
Roxie Freifeld,
Jess Friedman, and
Wren Norris earned their first career CSC honor.
The award recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. To be eligible for selection, a student-athlete must have reached sophomore athletic status and either competed in 90% of the team's sets or started in at least 66% of matches while maintaining a 3.50 or higher cumulative grade point average.
Freifeld, a second-year infielder out of Brooklyn, New York, batted .238 this year while playing a multitude of position on the diamond. The Psychology major also split the season playing first base, second base, third base, and short stop.
Graduating in May with a degree in Politics and Law and Society, Freidman was a powerhouse in left field, fielding .913 in her first year in the grass. The New Jersey native collected 15 hits and six runs over the year through 33 starts.
Norris, an Economics and Environmental Studies double major stood alongside Friedman in the outfield, earning the season start in center. Playing and starting all 33 games, the Washington product led the team with .978 fielding percentage while knocking in a second-best nine RBI.
Both Freifeld and Norris are set to return to the team for the next season, while Friedman will look on as a distinguished alum.
