Hiram, Ohio - In a cold, wet, and windy midweek conference doubleheader, Oberlin dropped two games against Hiram College, losing 22-12 in game one before falling 13-8 in the nightcap.

On a day full of offense, Oberlin's bats showed up. The Yeomen combined to score 20 runs in the doubleheader, the most total runs the offense has put up in a day so far this season.

Sophomore first baseman
Kyle Baxt had himself a day at the plate. In game one, Baxt went 3-5 with two doubles and a booming home run to dead center — his sixth of the season.Â

In game two, Baxt crushed his seventh home run just inside the left field foul pole to tie the single season record.

"It's a great honor," Baxt said postgame. "Accomplishing such a feat in my sophomore year is something I do not take for granted."

In game one, the freshman left fielder
Daniel Devapalan hit a three-run home run deep over the left field wall, his second of the season. Devapalan finished with three hits on the day.

Oberlin clocked 32 hits in the double header, 12 of which went for extra bases.Â

In game one, every Yeomen in the lineup had a hit, highlighted by multi-hit efforts from senior outfielder Zachary Masnikoff, senior shortstop
Zachary Ritts, Baxt, and sophomore outfielder
Brady Groves.Â

In game two, every Yeomen in the starting lineup had a hit again. Masnikoff, Ritts, Groves, freshman infielder
Samuel Labrecque, Devapalan, freshman catcher
Caden Rosenbaugh, and freshman infielder
Ryan Robinson each delivered multi-hit games in the affair.Â

Senior
Max Wassarman got the start on the mound in game one, while sophomore
Davis Hayes got the nod in game two.Â

In game one, freshman pitchers
Warner Gearhart and
Kaes Carter pitched in relief of Wassarman. While in game two, sophomore
Micah Rodriguez came in after Hayes and struck out six in his 3.2 innings of work. Sophomore
Grayson Black struck out the only batter he faced in relief of Rodriguez.

The loss moves the Yeomen to 8-19, 0-8 in NCAC play while Hiram moves to 12-13-1, 4-4 in the NCAC.

Oberlins next contest is this Saturday, as they travel to Greencastle, IN for a conference double header against Depauw University.Â
