Oberlin, Ohio – Scoring 13 unanswered goals in the first half, the Oberlin College women's lacrosse team steamrolled the Allegheny Gators on Wednesday evening. The 18-2 victory bring Oberlin back to even at 4-4 on the season.

Notching her sixth hat trick this season, Kylie Thompson put away five goals to propel the offense. Larissa Andrick led the team with three assists, while tacking on a goal of her own. Phoebe Dolan and Olivia Corradi each tallied four points, with Alexis Escobedo adding two goals to the game.

On the draw, Sophie Ward had her best game of her rookie season, pulling in six draw controls to compliment a goal and an assist.

Emily Berger earned the start in cage for the Crimson and Gold before Janny McCormick and Taryn Schwartz came in for relief. The trio accounted for seven saves on the day. Helping the net-minders on defense, Maddie Weathers pulled in a trio of ground balls and cause a pair of caused turnovers. Corradi also added two caused turnovers in addition to her four draw controls.

After a slow start the game, Oberlin took over after Ward caused a turnover in the midfield to lead to Escobedo's first goal of the day. Minutes later, Thompson went back-to-back before Dolan added the fourth goal to Oberlin's total. The Yeowomen scored five more goals in the final five minutes of the game to notch their highest scoring quarter of the season.

Dolan connected with Escobedo to start the second period, enacting the running-clock mercy rule. With plenty of breathing room, McCormick came in at goal and the Yeowomen settled into their game. Closing the half, Lauren Deardorf hit Megan Hiller on the move to give the Crimson and Gold a 13-0 lead at halftime.

Maintaining the pace from the first 30 minutes, Oberlin controlled possession and added another three goals to their tally. Holding the Gators scoreless through three periods, Allegheny finally found the back of the net with a free position from the center hash. Maddie Darlington responded for the Yeowomen after Schwartz made a huge save at 7:42. Allegheny added another from an FPO at the center hash, but Oberlin had the final say with a late insurance goal by Thompson.

"Today was a fantastic team win! Huge shout out to our defense for having another phenomenal performance." Head Coach Malory Nadrah adds, "Offensively, it was great to get a lot of people opportunities and see some great finishes. Super proud of the team for earning a big win!"

Oberlin returns to action when they head to the west coast for their spring break trip. The Crimson and Gold take on Chapman on Tuesday, March 25. The draw is set to go up at 7 p.m. ET (4 p.m. PT).
