Yeowomen Held Up by Tigers

Oberlin, Ohio – Hosting the DePauw Tigers at home, the Oberlin College women's basketball team dropped their Saturday matchup, 70-42. Oberlin moves to 11-10 on the season and 5-5 in NCAC play.

With eight points each, Angela Kumler and Camille Zinaich led the team in scoring while combining for five assists and nine rebounds. Ellie Pollock-Ballard added seven points of her own in addition to three assists and a block. Both Katherine Csiszar and Krystal Montas each tallied five rebounds.

A triple from Kumler highlighted a first half where the Crimson and Gold stayed competitive with the Tigers. Tied at 8-8, DePauw found their rhythm and scored eight unanswered points before the first quarter break.

Zinaich ended Oberlin's scoring drought with a jumper to start the second period. After Montas hit another basket, Oberlin looked to have regained their momentum. However, a three-pointer just minutes later lifted the Tigers who extended their lead to 27-17 at halftime.

As the second half got underway, the Tigers continued to mount their lead, outscoring the Yeowomen 24-9. Even with their best quarter shooting in the paint, Oberlin struggled to keep up with the fast-paced Tigers.

Faced with a 51-26 deficit to start the final quarter, the Crimson and Gold opened with a 7-0 run. Still facing a large lead to overcome, Oberlin continued to fight against DePauw until the final whistle. Montas notched the last bucket for Oberlin as they conceded the 70-42 loss.

The Crimson and Gold hit the road for their next match when they take on Denison on Wednesday, February 12. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
