New Orleans, Louisiana – After an incredible season for both teams, the Oberlin College men's and women's cross country teams earned USTFCCCA All-Academic Team honors.

The Yeomen finished with a 3.41 GPA, while the Yeowomen boast a 3.65 GPA to snag the team recognition.

Individually, Jonah Barber and Walter Moak earn USTFCCCA All-Academic Athlete honors for their impressive performance in the classroom and on the course.

Both Barber and Moak earned First-Team All-Conference honors after finishing inside the top-seven at the NCAC Championship in November. The duo led the men's team to their second conference title in three years.

Barber and Moak have turned their focus towards the indoor track and field season, where the two most recently competed at the Dr. Taraschke Team Challenge over the weekend. Racing in the 3,000m race, both harriers finished with personal-best times.

"A big congratulations to Walter for being named All-Academic all four cross country seasons and to Jonah for earning the second All-Academic honor of his career." Head Coach Izzy Alexander adds, "One of the questions we get asked most frequently by prospective student-athletes is: "Is it possible to balance both academics and athletics at Oberlin?" Walter and Jonah demonstrate that not only is it possible, it's possible to do both at a very high level."

On the team honors, Alexander notes, "Balancing academics and athletics is also exhibited by our Men's and Women's teams earning All-Academic recognition. The award is a testament to their hard work and the value that the athletes place on their education."

Individually, the North Coast Athletic Conference saw 23 student-athletes receive All-Academic Athlete distinction. Sixteen conference women made the list, while seven NCAC men were recognized.

In order to qualify for All-Academic Team distinction, cross country squads must have a cumulative GPA of 3.1 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period, among other qualifiers.

In order to qualify for All-Academic Athlete distinction, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top-25 percent of their respective regional championship meet.

Barber, Moak, and the rest of the Crimson and Gold compete next this Friday, February 7 when they host their first meet of the season. The Dan Kinsey Invite is set to kick off at 5 p.m.

Fans can keep up with their favorite teams on Instagram, Facebook, X, or TikTok, and watch all the home matches live online. The Crimson and Gold's home broadcasts can be accessed on TV through the official Oberlin College Sports Network app on Roku, Apple TV, and Amazon Fire TV.
