Yeowomen Cage Terriers in Home Finale

Oberlin, Ohio – Hosting their final home game of the regular season on Wednesday night, the Oberlin College women's basketball team finished in style with a huge victory over the Hiram Terriers. The 76-65 win catapults Oberlin to 13-11 (7-6), clinching their fourth-straight winning season.

Five Yeowomen finished in double-digits, led by senior forward Camille Zinaich with 15 points, seven rebounds, and four assists. Right beside here was Krystal Montas and Katherine Csiszar with 14 and 13 points, respectively. The duo played a huge role on defense, with Montas pulling in nine rebounds and Csiszar recording a career-best six steals.

Ellie Pollock-Ballard Stayed hot from the three-point line, hitting a trio of triples to finish with 11 points. Rounding out the clicking offense, Angela Kumler added ten points on top of five rebounds and three assists.

The Crimson and Gold played a balanced attack through the first quarter, just outscoring the Terriers 18-15. The game was in control of the visitors, until the final 2:43 when Montas tipped in a basket before adding a jumper, giving way to a Lily Najmulski three-pointer. With momentum, Kumler closed out the quarter with a three-point-play to give Oberlin the lead.

Carrying over into the second period, the Yeowomen continued to bear down on Hiram with shots from all over the court. At 6:11 a layup from Brooke Hickman tied the game at 24, but Cscizar capped off her own steal with a fast-break layup in the paint. The junior was on fire with a three-pointer just seconds later. Csiszar orchestrated a 12-2 run by Oberlin, scoring nine of Oberlin's key points.

Coming into the second half up 40-33, Hiram crawled their way back to a one-score game behind a tripe from Anastasia Lawler. Pollock-Ballard came in clutch with a three of her own to maintain the Crimson and Gold lead. It was the sharp-shooter again who came up for the Yeowomen with another trey to start the fourth quarter. Once up, Oberlin never looked back as they extended their lead to as much as 14 with buckets from Montas and Zinaich.

The much-needed victory gives Oberlin an added boost to close out the regular season on a high note this weekend, Saturday, February 22 when they face Kenyon on the road. The big tip-off is set for 2 p.m.
