Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Crimson and Gold Fight Lions on the Road

Erie, Pennsylvania – Hitting the road for their first away contest of the year, the Oberlin College women's basketball team took on Penn State Behrend on Saturday night. Despite a 20-point first quarter, Oberlin fell 68-56 in the matchup.

Katherine Csiszar had a standout performance on offense, accumulating a team-high 15 points and six rebounds, on top of a block and a steal. Following the senior, Krystal Montas added 12 points and a team-best eight rebounds and three blocks, followed by rookie Noa Brown with 12 points and two steals.

Just seconds into the opening quarter, Montas notched the first layup of the game to put the Crimson and Gold on the board. A triple from Brown kicked off a 10-0 run to put Oberlin up 14-9. The Lions responded to tie the game, but Brown's three treys gave the Yeowomen the slight 20-19 edge to end the frame.

With the Lions catching wind, Oberlin and Penn State Behrend battled through the second frame, never more than one score apart. Behind Csiszar's start and finish jumpers, the Crimson and Gold owned a 31-30 lead at halftime.

The Lions came out roaring in the third quarter, hitting nine from the field and scoring 21 to Oberlin's ten. 14 of those points came at the Yeowomen's own errors, with Penn State capitalizing off Oberlin's turnovers.

Looking for a comeback, Ellie Pollock-Ballard knocked down back-to-back triples to rev the engines, giving way to a Montas triple to bring Oberlin within five of the lead. PSUB dominated the final minute of play, scoring seven unanswered points to clinch victory on home court.

Oberlin looks to reset and strategize before their biggest test of the early season: No. 9 Baldwin Wallace on Wednesday, November 19. Hosting the Yellow Jackets, Oberlin tips off against their nationally ranked neighbor at 7 p.m.
