Oberlin, Ohio - The Oberlin College softball team lost 1-0 and 6-0 to the visiting Denison University Big Red on Saturday afternoon.
Sophomore pitcher
Hailey Alspach (2-8) gave up just five hits and one run as she was the tough-luck loser after going walk-free while fanning three. Denison starter Brooke Surbaugh, who was an All-NCAC first-team selection a season ago, was equally as impressive as she surrendered just four hits to accompany her three punchouts and two walks.Â
The lone run of the game came courtesy of Indy Workman's two-out RBI triple in the third inning.Â
Samantha Pinedo had two of Oberlin's four hits in the loss.Â
Senior
Katie Austin (0-5) tossed 4.1 innings in the nightcap, allowing five runs on five hits to go along with a season-high five strikeouts.Â
The Big Red got two runs in the fourth, three in the fifth, and tacked on one more in the seventh.Â

Mia Brito,
Haley Carlson, and
Kailey Dunham each had a hit for Oberlin in the loss with Norris picking up her fourth double of the season.Â
The Yeowomen will be back in action at home tomorrow against Chatham University. First pitch of game one is set for 2 p.m.Â
