Oberlin Lacrosse Finishes 2024 at Wooster

WOOSTER, OH - The Oberlin College women's lacrosse team capped off their 2024 campaign at Wooster on Saturday afternoon. The Yeowomen battled through the conference foes, but came up on the wrong end of a 15-4 final. The Crimson and Gold finish their season at 5-12 overall, and 1-5 in conference play.

Four different Yeowomen scored in the season finale, led by senior Maya Blevins who capped her career with one goal and one assist. Fourth-year Kaela Wilson paced the defense with a team-high five ground balls, while Lauren Mills caused four turnover for the Crimson and Gold.

Janny McCormick, Emily Berger, and Becca Galbraith shared time in cage, combining for 21 saves in the loss.

Wooster came out strong in the opening quarter, putting away five goals to Oberlin's one. After Audrey Koren forced a turnover on the defense, Abbie Patchen spun the ball into the back of the net to put the Yeowomen on the board.

Oberlin was shut out over the next 15 minutes, while the Fighting Scots added four more goals to their lead. The NCAC matchup took the halftime break, with Oberlin down 9-1.

Rookie Phoebe Dolan ended the drought in the first 40 seconds of the half, capitalizing off a turnover caused by Olivia Corradi. The Yeowomen added another goal off the back of a CTO, this time moving from Wilson to Alexandra Bernal, who found Blevins for the score.

Down 13-3, Oberlin celebrated one last goal in the 2024 season, when Caroline Lee scooped up a loose ball and found Mills, who connected with Blevins in the last :25 for a final score of 15-4.

Finishing outside the top four teams in the conference, the Yeowomen will rest their season on a 5-12 record they look to improve upon after a summer of rest.
