Powell, Ohio – Running with a slew of NCAA Division II and III athletes, the Oberlin College men's and women's cross country teams traveled south to compete in the Ohio Wesleyan Invitational on Friday evening.
Leading the Yeomen,
Jonah Barber clocked in at 25:48.8 in the men's 8k to finish second overall and first in the Division III slate. Barber led the field of 246 through the first three miles, before a sprint to the finish landed the Obie in second-place. The men's team earned fifth overall behind 185 points; third against DIII programs.
In the women's 6k,
Sage Serraino guided the Crimson and Gold to a ninth-place finish with a 23:48.4, giving Oberlin 212 points. The team finished sixth among fellow DIII teams.
Also clocking in a top-five finish,
Piers Shirk rallied for a personal best time of 26:03.2 to grab fourth place.
Charlie Endres (26:57.9) and
Liam Newman (27:28.0, PR) crossed next for the Yeomen, followed by
Daniel Beyda at 27:44.7 to round out the top-100 finishers.
Finishing under the 24-minute mark for the first time in her career,
Caleigh Lyons ran the women's 6k in 23:55.9 to earn 38
th overall.
Amber Borofsky followed shortly after at 24:00.5, with
Logan Lane next at 25:00.2.
Ella Wozek grabbed 84
th-overall with a time of 25:15.2 to round out Oberlin's first five finishers.
