Geneseo, New York – Hitting the road for Saturday's contest, the Oberlin College men's and women's cross country teams travelled north to New York for the SUNY Geneseo Mike Woods Invitational.
The men's team tallied 400 points to finish 14
th overall in a field of 33 teams, while the women's team garnered 568 points to grab 18
th among 29 teams.
For the men,
Walter Moak (25:22.3) and
Piers Shirk (25:22.6) paced the Yeomen in the 8k race, finishing 41
st and 42
nd overall. Earning a personal best time in the race, Shirk finished 41 seconds faster they his previous record at the Ohio Wesleyan Invite just two weeks ago.
Danny Markey rounded out the top-100 finishers for the Crimson and Gold, clocking in at 26:20.9. Crossing the finish line in the same minute,
Liam Newman and
Charlie Endres earned times of 26:40.9 and 26:55.4, respectively. Oberlin's final two runners finished just 20 seconds apart, beginning with
Will Gordon (27:28.0) followed by
Daniel Beyda (27:48.9)
Snagging the best 6k time of her career,
Caleigh Lyons was the only Obie to finish inside the top-100, crossing the line at 23:41.2 to 73
rd overall. Oberlin's next four harriers all finished within one minute of each other, in the order of
Sage Serraino (24:10.4),
Ella Wozek (24:35.6),
Logan Lane (24:54.4),
Amber Borofsky (24:54.9), and
Zosia Mateja (24:56.0). Both Lane and Wozek clocked personal best times in the race.
Camila Ciembroniewicz rounded out team Crimson and Gold with a time of 25:28.1.
Capping off their regular season on a high, the Crimson and Gold look ahead to the North Coast Athletic Conference Championships on Sunday, November 3. Hosted by DePauw, the title races will begin at 11 a.m.
