Lisann Earns Player of the Week Laurels

3/6/2023 4:30:00 PM

Westlake, Ohio - Oberlin College first-year tennis player Shawn Lisann was named North Coast Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday afternoon.

A native of Vienna, Virginia, Lisann went a perfect 4-0 in a pair of Yeomen wins this past week.

In a 6-3 team win over Allegheny, Lisann was a 6-1, 6-2 winner over the Gators' Julien Voisey at No. 4 singles while he and Sebastien Naginski were also easy 8-1 winners at No. 3 doubles against Will Jarvie and Adam Shinomiya.

Just yesterday, Lisann was inserted into the third slot in singles play and he rewarded head coach Eric Ishida for his decision as the rookie stepped up to the challenge and gutted out a  6-4, 7-6 (7-5) triumph over Sam Sran of Ohio Northern in his first collegiate match at the No. 3 position.

Lisann and Naginski also made short work of Tristan Munteanu and Nico Rogel at No. 3 doubles where they prevailed 8-1, helping the Yeomen win the match 7-2.

Lisann, who has won four of his last five doubles and five of the last six in singles matches, leads the team with seven solo victories this season.

He is the second Oberlin men's tennis player to earn weekly recognition from the NCAC, joining Sean Billerbeck who took home the honors back on February 6.

The Yeomen are slated to be back in action on Saturday as they welcome the DePauw University Tigers to town for a key conference clash starting at 2 p.m.
