New Orleans – Six members of the Oberlin College track and field program were named all-region, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) recently announced.
To earn the prestige, one must rank in the top-five in the region in their respective individual event or be a part of a top-three ranked relay team.
Those representing Oberlin on the list was freshman
Cole Fuller from the men's team, while women's team members
Clare Tiedemann,
Malaïka Djungu-Sungu,
Sarah Voit,
Iyanna Lewis, and
Anna Scott also received the praise.
Tiedemann headlined the contingency as she earned the award in three different events, which included her school-record total of 4,424 points in the heptathlon to rank third in the Great Lakes. The New York City native was fourth in the 100-meter hurdles (14.59) and fifth in the long jump (18-07.25/5.67m).
Voit had the region's top mark in the pole vault with a clearance of 12-06.75 (3.83m), while Djungu-Sungu also led the way in the triple jump at 39-06.50 (12.05m).
Lewis was fourth in the hammer throw with a toss of 170-02 (51.87m) and Scott was also fourth in the 800-meters with a time of 2:14.33.
Fuller's time of 54.99 in the 400-meter hurdles at the North Coast Athletic Conference Championships was fourth best in the Great Lakes.
He, Voit, and Lewis will be back next season looking to add to their impressive list of honors.
