Oberlin, OH- After celebrating their five seniors,
Bette Imhoff,
Reilly Jackman,
Logan McDermott-Mostowy,
Annie Payne, and
Maddie Van Houten, the Oberlin women's lacrosse team took on Kenyon on Saturday afternoon. The Ladies spoiled the celebration with a 17-6 win as the Yeowomen finish their season at 6-9 and 2-4 in NCAC action.
Young attackers
Lauren Mills and
Abigail Patchen led the offense with a pair of goals each. Both Jackman and Imhoff also tallied goals in the loss as Imhoff recorded four ground balls and three caused turnovers. Nearing another career game, McDermott-Mostowy made 13 stops and scooped up a pair of ground balls.
Kenyon got off to a hot start, tallying five goals right off the first whistle. Working to slow their rival,
Ellie Jensen found Mills inside the eight to get Oberlin on the board. The Yeowomen scored just once more before the end of the quarter off the stick of Patchen. The Ladies run continued up to the 7:54 mark of the second quarter where their 12
th goal started the running clock. The Yeowomen were quick to respond as they launched off back-to-back goals to stop the clock.
The Crimson and Gold reset during halftime and came out of the gates with momentum. Senior keeper McDermott-Mostowy made back-to-back saves to hold off the Kenyon attack. The Oberlin backline only gave up two goals during the third quarter to the high-powered NCAC offense. The fourth quarter showed off the Yeowomen's grit as the young team matched the Ladies point-for-point.
Finishing the game with a score of 17-6, Oberlin now looks ahead to the offseason and training for their 2023 campaign.
