Berea, OH – The Oberlin College track and field teams each placed third at the Sparky Adams Invitational on the campus of Baldwin Wallace University.
The women's squad totaled 102.5 points, with the men's team compiling 80 points on the day.
Iyanna Lewis opened the competition with a second-place showing in the hammer throw with a heave of 155‑03 (47.32m).
Oberlin picked up 16 team points in the women's long jump.
Malaïka Djungu-Sungu was second (17‑09.00 / 5.41m),
Jada Kennerly fourth (16‑09.75 / 5.12M), and
Aesha Mokashi was sixth (16‑05.25 / 5.01m).
Chilly Wallace would add a third-place effort in the triple jump with a mark of 34‑09.00 (10.59m) while Djungu-Sungu later returned to place third in the 100-meter dash in 12.87.
Sarah Voit was less than inch off her school-record mark in the pole vault as she moved into third in the nation with a winning clearance of 12-06.75 (3.83m).
In the 1,500, the senior distance duo of
Phoebe von Conta and
Anna Scott continued to impress as von Conta clocked in second in 4:43.28 while Scott was fourth in 4:44.75. In the 800, Scott was fourth (2:20.74) and von Conta ended sixth (2:23.24).
Senior
Clare Tiedemann tied for third in the 200-meter dash in 26.09. Tiedemann closed the meet by running leadoff on the winning 4x400 relay unit that also featured
Sage Reddish,
Maggie Allen, and Scott as they posted a time of 4:07.01.
On the men's side of the ledger,
Zac Ntia took second in the hammer with a heave of 163‑06 (49.85m). He was fourth in the shot put (47‑01.50 / 14.36m) and seventh in the discus (130‑07 / 39.81m).
Theo Haviland ended third in the javelin with a launch of 144‑03 (43.98m).
Junior
Zack Lee moved into second in the conference in the triple jump as he placed second with a mark of 44‑08.00 (13.61m). Freshman
Cole Fuller turned in a personal-best of 56.36 to place second in the 400-meter hurdles.
Freshman
Walter Moak won the 3,000-meter steeplechase by nearly a minute, clocking in a lifetime-best performance of 9.55.23.
Sam Fechner (11.15) and
Reese Hyatt (11.29) went back-to-back in the 100-meter dash, placing fifth and sixth, respectively.
Ross D'Orfani closed the individual portion of the meet with a third-place finish in the 5,000 meters at 16:12.37.
The Yeomen capped the night with a third-place run in the 4x400 relay as Fuller got things started before
Jesse Herdman,
Jon Dromlewicz, and Kambi Obioha followed to clock in at 3:24.86.
Oberlin track and field is back in action next weekend with select athletes competing at Denison on Friday and in the NCAC Combined events at Oberlin on Saturday and Sunday. However, the bulk of the team will compete Saturday at the Ashland Alumni Open.
