Yeomen Tennis Takes Down John Carroll

Box Score Oberlin, OH- The Oberlin College men's tennis team hosted John Carroll at home for a dual match on Friday evening. Behind highly contested singles competitions, the Yeomen defeated the Blue Streaks 6-3 to improve to 3-7 on the season.
 
The No. 1 doubles team, James Dill and Grant North won a close match against JCU's Gustavo Garcia and Mark Beebe by a score of 8-6. Ben Echikson and Sebastien Naginski tried for the teams second point but were taken down to tie the match at 1-1. In the final doubles spot, Sean Billerbeck and Rohan Gold made quick work of their counterparts to close out the doubles competition, Oberlin up 2-1.
 
In singles action, Billerbeck fought a close match, earning victory in the tie breaker for a final score of 4-6, 7-5 (10-7). Dill got the No. 2 nod and won his match 6-2, 6-3 before Gold flew through for a 6-0, 6-2 victory. In a much closer dual, Sam Topper battled back from losing the first game 5-7, to win the second game and tie breaker 6-1 and 10-8, respectively. Up 5-2 and victory sealed, Naginski and North closed out the No. 5 and 6 singles spot with split victories. Naginski took the dub in 6-4, 6-1 fashion while North fell in the tie breaker, 7-5, 4-6 (3-10).
 
The Yeomen have a quick turnaround as they get back on the courts tomorrow, March 19 when they host the DePauw Tigers. The first serve is set for 2pm.
