Springfield, OH - The Oberlin College women's track and field team won its fifth North Coast Athletic Conference Championship in program history, while the men's team took sixth place with 69 points.

Oberlin's victors totaled 166.5 points, to secure its fourth title in the last five contested indoor championships with their last coming in 2019.

Plenty of points were had for both teams during the morning field events, headlined by an Oberlin sweep in the triple jump. Senior Malaïka Djungu-Sungu set a conference and school record in the event with a mark of 38-04.75 (11.70m) en route to being named the Women's Field Athlete of the Year. The new standard erases Annie Goodridge's former school-best leap of 37-10.50 (11.54m) that was set at the 2016 All-Ohio Championships. The conference record was previously held by Denison's Aedin Brennan (37-11.50).

On the men's side of the triple jump, it was Kofi Asare who added his second conference title in the event with a school record clearance of 46-06.25 (14.18m) on his sixth and final jump. He topped Alex Guo's old mark of 45-09.75 (13.96m) that he set at the 2013 championships.

However, it wasn't just the record-breakers who shined in the triple jump. On the women's end, Chilly Wallace added another All-NCAC finish to her ledger, placing third in 36‑07.00 (11-11.50m), while senior Aesha Mokashi was one spot back at 36-00.25 (10.98m) to give the Yeowomen 21 total points in the event.

The Yeomen also tallied 21 points in the triple jump as rookie Xavier English was third at 43‑07.25 (13.29m) while fellow first-year Jake Jarvis was fourth with a mark of 43‑04.50 (13.22m).

Zac Ntia topped a 21-person field in the weight throw to add another conference title for the Yeomen with a toss of 54-09.50 (16.70m), while sophomore Abby Cannon earned  all-conference accolades in the shot put with a third-place heave of 39‑09.25 (12.12m).

Carter LaPointe was fourth in the men's pole vault 13‑05.25 (4.10m) while Aislinn Cannistraro tied for fifth in the high jump with a clearance of 5‑00.25 (1.53m).

In the first running event of the day, the Yeomen grouping of Asare, Cole Fuller, Reese Hyatt and Sam Fechner placed fifth in the 4x200 meter relay in 1:31.26 to set another school record.

Oberlin quickly returned to the podium with two athletes represented in the mile. It was senior Anna Scott who won the race in 5:10.66 while classmate Phoebe von Conta was close behind in second in 5:12.97. von Conta later returned to take second in the 3,000 meters in 10:34.15.

In the women's 60-meter hurdles, Oberlin totaled 13 points as senior Clare Tiedemann continued her impressive campaign by taking second place in 9.06 while Wallace checked in fourth in 9.29. In the very next race, Tiedemann returned to add another second-place finish in the 400 meters with a personal-best time of 59:07. The senior from New York City added five more points with a fourth-place effort of 26.45 in the 200 meters to notch another personal-best and finish the meet with an astounding 37 points.

After entering as the top seed, first-year Sage Reddish was fourth in the 800 meters in 2:20.33 to add six tallies to the Yeowomen's team total.

In the men's 400, Fuller picked up all-conference honors with a lifetime best run of 50.80 to place third overall.

At meet's end, Head Coach Ray Appenheimer was named Women's Coach of the Year.

Select members of the team may compete next weekend in a last chance meet in effort to improve upon their season-long marks ahead of the NCAA Championships March 11-12.
