Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Oberlin Falls to Britons in Home Opener

Oberlin, Ohio- Opening their home schedule, the Oberlin College women's basketball team came up short against the Albion Britons on Wednesday night. Camille Zinaich led the Yeowomen in the 73-61 loss with 14 points. Oberlin now falls back to 2-1 on the season.

As they have every game, the Yeowomen came out firing on all cylinders in the first quarter, outscoring the Brits 15-9. Looking to challenge Oberlin, Albion stormed onto the court to put up 21 points in the second quarter and take their first lead of the game at 30-28 headed into halftime.

Coming out of the break, Oberlin set out to retake their lead, but visitors battled back. Swapping early buckets, the Yeowomen battled from behind as Gina Lombard and Bryana Woodard combined for OC's next six points. The game continued to be nip and tuck as Alyson Jefferson drew a foul to set up the tying free throws. Hitting both, the Yeowomen met the Brits at 42-42.

All tied up for the final quarter of play, Oberlin tried to keep their momentum rolling but a pair of quick jumpers halted the Yeowomen's run and gave the lead back to Albion. The Britons continued to control the ball over the remainder of the quarter as Albion took the game away 73-61.

The Yeowomen get back in action this Friday, November 18 as they travel to Virginia for the Pablo Coto Tournament, hosted by Marymount University. Oberlin takes on the host school in the first round at 7pm. A live stream is available here and live stats here.
