About the Heisman Club Hall of Fame Class of 2021

Young Kim '85- Swim and Dive
A standout swimmer for legendary Hall of Fame coach Dick Michaels, Young Kim was a formidable foe to his rivals across the Ohio Athletic Conference and North Coast Athletic Conference throughout his career. By the time he graduated, Kim was the holder of six individual team records and participated on two record-setting relay teams.

Kim qualified for the NCAA Championships for all four years of his career and as a senior was named to the All-American team in the 400-yard individual medley. An all-strokes swimmer, his name still appears five times in the Oberlin all-time top ten swims list.  He was a senior co-captain for the Yeomen and a three-time team MVP.

Kim has worked as a non-profit executive director and activist since graduating from Oberlin, and has earned several community awards and distinctions including the Wisconsin Hunger Hero Award, the Greater Milwaukee Foundation Doug Jansson Leadership Award, the Outpost Natural Foods' Owner of the Year, and was a Fellow at the Center for Whole Communities.
Matt Filner '91 - Men's Soccer

A key fixture on the pitch throughout his four-year career, Matt Filner shined on the Yeomen attack in the late 80s, earning All-NCAC honors four times.

Filner's stellar play helped the Yeomen post an aggregate record of 43-20-6 as he produced the second most points of any player in school history with 116. Filner also remains second all-time in both goals (46) and assists (24).

A First-Team All-NCAC selection as a senior in 1990, Filner deposited 13 goals and distributed eight assists for 34 points, marking the sixth-best single-season total in program history.

Under the guidance of legendary head coach and Heisman Club Hall of Famer Fred Shults, Filner and his teammates posted a 13-3-1 mark in 1988, helping Shults win NCAC Coach of the Year honors while recording the third-most wins in a season to this day.

A former All-Academic, All-Region, and All-State honoree, Filner stayed active by participating in intramural volleyball, softball, bowling, and basketball, and also taught an ex-co class during his senior year.

After graduating with a degree in history in 1991, he later earned his Ph.D in political science from Indiana University in 2001.
Teresa Collins '05- Track and Field
One of the most dominant sprinters in Oberlin College track and field history, Teresa Collins was an eight-time letter winner with the Yeowomen and was a 22-time all North Coast Athletic Conference honoree.

Throughout her four-year career, Collins was a seven-time NCAC champion on the oval. She burst onto the scene in her first-year, claiming conference crowns in the indoor 1,600-meter relay and the outdoor 400-meter relay. After posting a national provisional-qualifying time in the 400-meters as sophomore, she would cap off her illustrious career by winning four conference titles as a senior, which included individual championships in the 400- and 200-meter races outdoors as well as sweeping the 1,600-meter relay both indoors and outdoors.

In her final conference meet in 2005, Collins gave the Yeowomen all she could, accounting for 38 of the team's 77 total points en route to winning NCAC Sprints/Hurdles Runner of the Year accolades while helping the team finish in second place.

Before graduating in 2005 with a degree in anthropology and a minor in art history, the two-year team captain set school records for five indoor events (800m relay, 1600m relay, 300m sprint, 400m dash, 500m dash) and two outdoor events (1600m relay, 400m dash).

Collins currently resides in Tampa, FL and works as an Early Literacy Specialist in the Tampa-Hillsborough County Public Library System.
Chris Schubert '08 - Football
One of the most dynamic players in the storied history of Oberlin College football, Chris Schubert was an elite wide receiver and return specialist throughout his four-year career on the gridiron.

A member of the North Coast Athletic Conference All-Decade Team, Schubert is second all-time in NCAC history with 6,301 all-purpose yards. As a senior he earned All-NCAC First-Team honors as a receiver and return specialist, totaling 2,041 all-purpose yards - marking the fourth-best single-season total in league history.

Oberlin's all-time leader with 2,536 receiving yards, Schubert is one of two players in school history with over 200 career receptions and is the only player in program history to have two punt return touchdowns. First in school history with 2,867 kickoff return yards and 343 punt return yards, Schubert earned All-NCAC honors a combined seven times as a wide out and returner.

Following his career with the Yeomen, he was invited to attend the Cleveland Browns rookie/free agent mini camp and he went on to play professionally in various arena leagues for six years.
A former member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and team captain, he started 39 games in his career and graduated with a degree in sociology.

The recipient of Oberlin's Michael P. Dougan and Lysle K. Butler awards, Schubert spent time coaching at the both the high school and college level but currently works at McMaster-Carr as a distribution specialist.
