Day One of the Oberlin Invitational is in the Books

Oberlin, Ohio – The first installment of the three-day Oberlin College Invitational featured a plethora of personal-best swims for both the men's and women's teams. The Yeowomen currently lead the eight-team field with 374.5 points, while the Yeomen are fifth out of nine teams with 206 points.
 
The evening finals starting with the Yeowomen tandem of Elisabeth Ragone, Isabel Pfaff, Ava Peyton, and Ellie Frost placing third in the 200-yard free relay with a time of 1:39.96, which is the fourth-best mark in school history.
 
First-year Bella Sites followed with the eight-best time in Oberlin history in the 500-yard free, clocking in at 5:15.89 to place second.
 
The A-final of the 200-yard IM featured two Yeowomen with Audrey Weber taking fifth in 2:21.50 while teammate Ava Schigur checked in eighth in 2:22.87.
 
Three Yeowomen made their way into the A-final of the 50-yard free with Ellie Frost headlining the trio with a fifth-place finish in 25.14. Her prelim mark of 24.66 is the fourth-best time in program history. Ragone, whose prelim time of 25.13 was 10th-best all-time, was one spot back of Frost in the finals at 25.15, while Pfaff checked in eighth in at 25.38 to place eighth.
 
The Oberlin women ended the night with a second-place effort in the 400-yard medley relay as the grouping of Peyton, Skye Slade, Pfaff, and Frost completed the journey in 4:07.93.
 
For the Yeomen, Isaac Viviano turned in a fifth-place effort in the 500-yard free in 4:52.08, while rookie Dylan Bechtold checked in 10th at 4:54.58.
 
Senior Jonathan Hupfeld placed seventh in the 200-yard IM at 2:03.69, while the individual events coming to a close with rookie Erik Fendorf earning a second-place finish in the 50-yard free in 21.65, tying the eighth-best time in school history,
 
The night's events ended with the Yeomen foursome of Nora Holder, Hupfeld, Fendorf, and Viviano taking fourth in the 400-yard medley relay with the sixth-fastest time in school at 3:35.34.
 
Day two of the Oberlin Invitational gets underway tomorrow at 9:00 a.m.
