Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Yeowomen Fall to Denison in NCAC Semifinals

Granville, Ohio – The Oberlin College women's lacrosse team was unable to keep pace with top-seeded Denison as they fell, 19-4, in the conference semifinals on Thursday afternoon.

Eliza Amber had two of Oberlin's four goals as she also added a team-high five draw controls in the setback.

The stifling Big Red defense held the Yeowomen to just 12 shots and a 12-of-23 performance on clear attempts. Oberlin also turned it over 23 times in the loss.

After two opening goals from Denison, Oberlin would cut the lead in half on a Bette Imhoff finish with 24:30 left to play in the opening half. A string of six straight Big Red goals was finally snapped on Amber's first goal of the game. Oberlin would get one more first-half tally from Kyra Aviles but the Big Red ultimately carried a 14-3 cushion into the intermission.

The final outcome was never in doubt in in the second half as the margin swelled to as many as 18 before Hayley Drapkin assisted Amber on game's finally goal with 9:03 left to play.

Denison put 32 of its 38 shots on frame in the contest. Senior goalie Siena Marcelle did all she could to make 13 saves in the game as she ends her career with 316 stops.

The Yeowomen have made the NCAC Tournament in three straight years and four out of the last five.

Oberlin ends its season at 6-9 overall and 5-3 in the NCAC.
