Yeomen Place Fourth in NCAC Tournament

Indianapolis, IN – The 40th ranked Oberlin College men's tennis team concluded its season by falling to unranked DePauw, 5-3, in the third-place match of the North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament.

The Tigers came in ranked No. 14 in the region – four spots behind the Yeomen. DePauw set the tone early by winning the top two doubles flights. However, Oberlin's No. 3 pairing of Camron Cohen and Matthew Gittings did eke out an 8-7 (7-3) win over Alex Bertolini and Will Sultan.

Oberlin's two singles victories came at the top and bottom. Stephen Gruppuso was a 6-0, 4-6, 6-1 winner over Greg Frauenheim at No. 1, while Sam Topper dispatched Sultan 6-2, 6-0 at No. 6.

The No. 5 battle went three sets but Elliot Nuss ended on the wrong end of a 4-6, 6-0, 6-4 scoreline.

Oberlin ends its 2019 campaign in fourth place at 9-13 and 3-1 in the NCAC East.
