Oberlin, Ohio — The Oberlin College women's lacrosse team cruised to a 14-1 victory over the Hiram College Terriers on Senior Day.
Prior to the opening draw, the Yeowomen honored their senior members,
Sabrina Deleonibus,
Hayley Drapkin,
Sydney Allen,
Siena Marcelle, and student manager
Jenna Butler.
Drapkin led the team in white, with eight assists and a goal. Her teammate Deleonibus put three points on the scoreboard with an assist, while sophomore
Tess Siciliano registered three goals, bringing her season total to 33.
The Yeowomen outscored the Terriers 13-0 in the opening half with Deleonibus and
Tess Siciliano leading the way with three apiece. Deleonibus would get the final tally of the half with 1:09 left on the clock off Drapkin's seventh dime of the session.
In a sloppy second half with the clock running each team would score just once. The lone Oberlin tally came out of the stick of
Emily Berner off Drapkin's eighth helper of the contest with 29:30 left to play.
Marcelle and
Maranda Phillips split time in cage for the Yeowomen. Sophomore Phillips recorded five saves and Marcelle made two stops running her career total to 298.
The Yeowomen ride was relentless all afternoon as the Terriers were successful on just 12 of 27 clears. Oberlin outshot the Terriers 34-19 and picked up four more ground balls than Hiram.
Oberlin, who is 4-3 in conference and 5-8 overall, will close out the regular season next week at Ohio Wesleyan University. The battle against the Bishops is set to start at 11 a.m.
