Abigail Bellows and
Sarah Voit were named North Coast Athletic Conference Athletes of the Week, announced Monday afternoon by the conference office.
Bellows was named the mid-distance/distance athlete of the week for a strong performance in the 3,000-meter event at the Sixth Annual Spartan Holiday Classic. They completed the race in 11:05.72, leading Oberlin's top-3 finishers in the event. After a track size conversion, the time comes out to 11:00.07 and currently ranks 33
rd in the country and tops in the NCAC.
Voit won the pole vaulting event for the Yeowomen in her first collegiate meet. The Cincinnati, Ohio, native cleared 10-06.00 on her first attempt to give Oberlin 10 team points. The performance is tied for the 15th-best mark in Division III after the first weekend of competition.
The duo and their teammates will be back in action at the Kent State Golden Gala on Friday and Saturday. The two-day meet starts with the field events on Friday starting at 12:30 p.m.
