Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Yeowomen Defeat Terriers

OBERLIN, Ohio - In gearing up for the season finale on Saturday, Oberlin College women's lacrosse dominated the Hiram College Terriers in an 18-3, rout on Wednesday night.

The Crimson and Gold got off to a hot start with 12 goals in the opening half. The Yeowomen captured a 9-0 lead before the Terriers could get on the board.

Oberlin dominated the run of play outshooting the Terriers 24-2 in the first half en route to a 36-9 differential. The Terriers managed no successful clears going 0-2, while the Yeowomen finished 2-of-5. In the win, Oberlin converted on all five free position opportunities, sealed 15-of-21 draw controls and hauled in 20 groundballs as a unit.

Five different Yeowomen tallied goals in the opening 15-minutes with Natalie Rauchle netting her 54th of the year to begin proceedings. Eliza Amber followed and Maggie Mullard made it 3-0 a minute later.

After Rauchle tallied her second of the match, Sara Phister struck twice to give Oberlin a 6-0 advantage. Rauchle completed the hat-trick at the 17-minute mark and Sydney Garvis flung home two consecutive goals to end the Hiram scoring drought.

A Hiram goal from Sierah Ray stopped the run but only momentarily. Seconds after the Hiram score, Morgan Daruwala netted her ninth goal of the year. Sabrina Deleonibus and Garvis closed the half with goals in the final 2:45 of the stanza.

The Yeowomen took a 12-1 lead into the intermission.

Hiram showed signs of life early on in the second half, but the deficit was too great to overcome.

After Rauchle tallied her fourth and final goal of the evening the Terriers earned back-to-back strike from the sticks of Alexis Hirsch and Alyse Gillentine. With a running clock already invoked and the scoreline at 13-3 in Oberlin's favor, four more Yeowomen notched goals to drive the hosts to 12-1 overall and 6-1 in league play.

Rauchle and Garvis led the offensive showcase with four scores and four points each. Phister, Jenna Butler and Deleonibus followed with two goals apiece and all split three points with an assist in the win.

Daruwala, Amber, Josephine An and Mullard each collected a goal in the 15-goal tirumph.

Senior Alexa L'Insalata saw all 60-minutes of action in the crease posting four stops in the win moving her season total to 71.

Oberlin women's lacrosse will return to action on Saturday, April 29, when the Yeowomen entertain the DePauw University Tigers.

The Yeowomen will be celebrating Senior Day during the pregame.
