Women’s Lacrosse Has No Trouble at Ohio Wesleyan

Delaware, Ohio – The Oberlin College women's lacrosse team cruised to a commanding, 17-2, win over the Ohio Wesleyan University Battling Bishops on Saturday afternoon to remain unbeaten on the season at 8-0.

Sydney Garvis led the Yeowomen scoring barrage as she finished with five goals to go along with one assist. Senior Sara Phister added seven points to her season account, posting four scores while adding three helpers. Junior Natalie Rauchle moved her-team loading goal total to 37 as she registered a hat trick in the victory.

The Yeowomen scored four times in the first five minutes of the game and ultimately took an 11-1 lead into the intermission. The first two goals of the contest were unassisted tallies from sophomore Hayley Drapkin and first-year Eliza Amber. Garvis and Phister would follow shortly thereafter with eight-meter goals.

Garvis would score four more times before the first-half horn would sound with the last one coming just a second before the buzzer. Senior Morgan Daruwala also notched her seventh goal of the year in the first half.

With the lead well in hand, Oberlin played out the final 30 minutes without worry. Maggie Mullard and Josephine An would get into the scoring mix in the second session while Rauchle and Phister each scored twice more in the final 30 minutes of action.

Alexa L'Insalata started in goal and made two saves in the first half before giving way to Siena Marcelle in the second half.

Drapkin and Rauchle each secured six draws for the Yeowowmen, while Sloane Garelick and Emily Berner led the defensive effort with four caused turnovers and six ground balls, respectively.

The Yeowomen finished with a 41-7 advantage in shots and won the ground ball battle 31-15. OC also secured 16 of the game's 20 draws.

Oberlin will have its toughest test of the season when it returns to action next Saturday when it Denison University to town for a critical NCAC clash at 1 p.m.
