ALBION, Mich. – In the opening night of the Albion College Tip-Off Tournament Oberlin College women's basketball suffered the first stumble of the 2015-16 season, falling, 86-57, to the Illinois Wesleyan Titans.
Both sides kept it tight throughout the first quarter, but the Titans escaped with a four-point advantage 18-14. A three-ball from senior
Caroline Hamilton knotted the game at 22-22 with 7:37 left in the half, but the Titans ripped off a 18-5 run in the next 5:18 to pull in front 40-25. The Yeowomen stopped the bleeding to take a 42-29 deficit into the break.
The Titans outscored the Yeowomen 23-10 in the third stanza and despite the Oberlin women registering 18 in the fourth quarter, Illinois Wesleyan forged ahead to a n 86-59 victory.
Hamilton led the Yeowomen from the floor, hitting 6-of-14 for 18 points. Hamilton knocked down four three balls, while dishing out two assists and tallying two steals and two rebounds.

Lindsey Bernhardt went 4-of-9 against the Titans, finishing with 12 points, a team-high four assists and four rebounds. First-year
Alex Stipano led the Yeowomen on the glass, hauling in five rebounds in the loss to accompany her six points and one assist.
The Titans outshot the Yeowomen in the Friday night bout finishing 48.6% (36-of-74) from the field, while Oberlin knocked down 19-of-55 (34.5%). The Titans bench played hard to outscore the Oberlin reserves, 39-11.
Despite struggling from the floor, the Yeowomen had no trouble from the line, hitting all 12 free throw opportunities.
The Oberlin women return to the hardwood tomorrow afternoon when they conclude the Albion Tip-Off Tournament with Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.
