Shanks Health and Wellness Center

The Patricia '63 and Merrill '61 Shanks Health and Wellness Center brings fitness, recreation and mental well-being together under one roof. Opened in August 2018 next to the Jesse Philips Physical Education Center, the center added 16,000 square feet of space, a new 25-yard-by-25-yard pool and Cooper Recreation Lane. With dedicated fitness studios, group exercise spaces, wellness resources and areas for studying, the center supports a well-rounded approach to student life.

01 / Fitness

Krislov Fitness Studio

The Krislov Fitness Studio features more than 50 exercise machines, giving students access to equipment for a variety of fitness and training goals.

02 / Group Exercise

Studios for Every Workout

The Koppes Spin Room features 17 bikes, while the Canavan Multipurpose Room hosts group fitness classes. YeoFit programming includes yoga, spinning, TRX, cardio boxing, strength training, Zumba and more.

03 / Wellness

Mind and Body

The Abeles Wellness Room includes TRX bands, medicine balls and dumbbells. The MindSpa provides a quiet space to reset, complemented by mental health programming, self-care seminars and counseling resources.

04 / Aquatics

Pool and Recreation Lane

The center added a 25-yard-by-25-yard pool and Cooper Recreation Lane, expanding the campus's aquatic and recreational facilities.

05 / Student Space

Study and Lounge Areas

A student lounge with study tables and armchairs featuring built-in desks offers space to read, study or take a break between activities.

06 / Community

More Than a Workout

In addition to fitness and wellness programming, the center hosts campus events throughout the year, bringing students together in a shared space.
