Chanel Green enters her second season as the assistant coach for the Oberlin College women’s basketball team in 2019-20.
Green joins the Yeowomen coaching staff after serving as a volunteer assistant at NCAA Division I Hampton University in 2017-2018. As part of the Pirates staff she developed accurate scouting reports and assisted with player development on and off the court. During her season in Hampton, the Pirates finished the year 18-4 with a 12-4 conference mark and advanced to the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference semifinals.
Prior to assisting at Hampton she served as a Head Coach for the Hampton High School junior varsity team. Green developed her skills in player development, administered team building exercises, setting up game and practice plans and executed all other head coaching duties.
She also served as the Assistant Girls Basketball Camp Director at D.C. Parks and Recreation and worked as an intern for the Hampton athletic department.
As an undergraduate at Hampton University Green played guard and appeared in 44 games for the Pirates. In 2016-17 she was named a captain and led Hampton to a MEAC Tournament Championship.
Green made the dean’s list three years and graduated with a bachelor’s in communication and minor in health education in May of 2017. She is currently working towards a master’s in sports administration from Hampton.
