At the 2015 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, Monique Newton closed out one of the most electrifying performances by a first-year in school history after finishing with All-American honors in the women's shot put.

Entering the field of 22 competitors as one of two freshmen, Newton let loose a program record throw of 46-11.50 (14.31m) to,finish fourth in the women's shot put.

Newton showed resilience and courage after sitting in ninth and on the outside looking in with one throw remaining.

The Sacramento, California native unleashed everything she had left to give on her, final throw to propel her into fourth overall.

Newton's All-American performance marks the first for an Oberlin thrower since the early 90's, and places her atop the program record books. Newton's performance also marks the first All-American finish by a first-year since 2010.
