Oberlin College sophomore Emily Whitaker was named as the North Coast Athletic Conference Field Hockey Player of the Week, the league office announced on Sunday evening.
Whitaker, a native of Pelham, New York, carried Oberlin to its first win of the season by a scoring a career high three goals to go along with one assist in a 6-2 triumph over Earlham College on Homecoming Saturday. She also added one score in a midweek match at Wooster.
Whitaker, who has started every game of her young career, has recorded eight of Oberlin’s 12 goals on the season, running her points total to 17 on the year.
She and the rest of the Yeowomen return to action at home on Saturday against DePauw.
