Oberlin, Ohio - Oberlin College Head Men's Lacrosse Coach
Ryan Polak announced the addition of Thomas Klosowski to his coaching staff.
Klosowski will serve as Polak's top aid while running the Yeomen's defense and instructing their face-off specialists.
After spending the 2023 season in a similar role at Bates College, Klosowski will be returning to the North Coast Athletic Conference after four seasons (2019-22) as an assistant coach at Kenyon College where he and Coach Polak first got the opportunity to work together.
"I was very fortunate to spend two and a half years working with Thomas at Kenyon College and have kept in close contact with him throughout the years, watching him continue to grow as a coach," Polak said. "He brings a ton of energy and passion for the game and I would consider him to be one of the top defensive coordinators in all of Division III. He will play a huge factor in taking our program to new heights on the field, in the weight room, and in recruiting. I am extremely excited to get Thomas to campus and get to work."
During his time in Gambier, Klosowski helped take the Owls into the NCAC Tournament each season, which included runner-up finishes in 2022 and 2021. Guiding the third-ranked defense in the country in 2022, Klosowski's rearguard led the NCAC in caused turnovers, man-down goals, scoring defense, and goals allowed.
The historic 14-win season in 2022 also featured Kenyon's first-ever NCAC playoff win and highest finish in school history. Throughout his tenure, he helped mentor 29 All-NCAC selections, including 2022 NCAC Defensive Player of the Year Mayo Amorello. Furthermore, he instructed three USILA All-Americans and six USILA Scholar All-Americans.
"I am grateful to Natalie Winkelfoos and
Ryan Polak for giving me this opportunity," Klosowski said. "Their passion for and commitment to success in the classroom, on the field and in the community really stands out. I could not be more excited to get to work with the team."
A native of Miami, Florida, Klosowski had the Owls ranking in the top-40 nationally and second in the NCAC in face-off percentage while also assisting all athletics teams with their strength and conditioning programs.
Klosowski brings additional experience as a former high school and club head coach and is
also owner and operator of TK Athletics LLC (Miami, FL), an organization intended to build youth, middle, and high school developmental programs in South Florida.
The 2010 Miami-Dade Player of the Year out of Gulliver Prep in Miami, Klosowski went on to earn All-American honors at Onondaga Community College (Syracuse, NY) where he won two National Junior College Athletic Association championships. He would later play at The Ohio State University before transferring to the University of Miami to earn a bachelor's of science in sports administration.
A former member of the Polish National Team, his playing career would continue professionally as he spent time with the Florida Launch of the MLL and he also played for the Columbus Crows of the IBLA.
Klosowski will officially start his duties at Oberlin on June 1.
