Box Score

Lorain, Ohio – The Oberlin College men's tennis team saw its season come to an end by dropping a marathon, 5-4, decision against Ohio Wesleyan University on Sunday evening at Fox Creek Country Club in nearby Lorain, Ohio.

The Yeomen led 4-3 with two matches still on court, but the Bishops evened the match – and would eventually win it as Riche Karban outlasted Oberlin's Charlie Marks 6-4, 7-5 at No. 2 singles. The victory put OWU in seventh place in the final NCAC standings, while Oberlin finished in eighth.

The Bishops took a 2-1 lead into singles play with wins in flights one and three. The Yeomen pairing of Callan Louis and Eliot Heaton provided the first Yeomen point with an 8-4 win over Matt Swaim and Brad Turnwald at No. 2.

Louis went on to defeat Will Thieman at No. 1 singles, earning the straight-set victory by the scores of 6-2, 6-3.

Soren Zeliger also dispatched Swaim at No. 4 by identical 6-1 counts, while Ben Turchin won at No. 3 over John Rissell. Turchin took the first set 7-5 and Rissell retired in the second set.

Unfortunately, the Bishops were able to win at five and six to help complete the comeback win.

The Yeomen finished season at 9-13 overall under first-year Head Coach Eric Ishida.
