Men’s Tennis Outlasts Wooster

Oberlin, Ohio – The Oberlin College men's tennis team earned their second NCAC East win of the season, outlasting the Scots of Wooster by a 5-4 margin on Tuesday night at the John W. Heisman Field House.
 
The Yeomen took a 2-1 lead into singles play and won in the top three spots to sneak past the Scots.
 
The No. 1 pairing of Charlie Marks and Ben Turchin was victorious 8-3 over Willie Nelson and Mike Saurman. However, Soren Zeliger and Callan Louis had to work a little harder at No. 2 to earn a 9-7 triumph.
 
Louis squared off against Nelson at No. 1 singles where handled him fairly easily in straight sets, 6-2, 6-1.
 
Marks and Saurman went toe-to-toe at No. 2, but the Yeomen junior came out on top 6-4, 6-3.
 
Senior Ben Turchin provided a key Oberlin win at No. 3 with a pair of 6-2, 6-2 wins over Jake Pine.
 
The Yeomen will stay in conference to take on Denison on Saturday in Granville, Ohio. Doubles play will begin at 1 p.m.
