Oberlin, Ohio - The Oberlin College men's tennis team took down undefeated Mount Union, 7-2, on Thursday night by winning two tiebreaks and sweeping the Raiders in doubles play in Heisman Field House.

The Yeomen were led by the consistent play of junior Charlie Marks and senior Ben Turchin, as the two teamed up for a win in first doubles, 8-2. Marks went on to win in first singles, 6-2, 6-0, while Turchin won in third singles, 6-2, 6-3.

"Marks and Turchin took charge in doubles and really set the tone for us with the win," head coach Eric Ishida said. "Their experience as upperclassmen is really starting to show through their high level of play."

The Yeomen showed their mental toughness in second and third doubles by winning both matches by tiebreak. Freshman Callan Louis and sophomore Soren Zeliger won second doubles, 9-8 (7-5 in the tiebreak), while senior Eliot Heaton and freshman Brandon McKenna took third doubles by the scores 9-8 and 8-6 in the tiebreak.

In singles play, Louis took the victory at No. 2, 6-3, 6-3. Zeliger rounded out the Yeomen winners in singles at No.4 by the score of 6-3, 6-3.

"We are continuing to grow and build chemistry as a team," Ishida said. "Our guys played very tough tonight, especially in the tiebreaks at our No. 2 and No. 3 doubles."

The Yeomen are on a four-match win streak and currently sit 4-1 on the season. Oberlin will look to win their fifth straight on March 9 when they travel to Grove City College for a 10 a.m. match.
