Oberlin, Ohio – Over the weekend legendary lacrosse and soccer coach Cliff Stevenson was inducted into the Ohio Lacrosse Hall of Fame.
Stevenson, who coached from 1952-60, led the Yeomen to five Midwest League Championships and four undefeated seasons during his tenure as lacrosse coach.
Stevenson, who was one of the original organizers of the Ohio Lacrosse Association, is credited with being one the first coaches to use film as a training tool, developing a 16mm film on the fundamentals of the game.
A 1952 graduate of Springfield College (Mass.), Stevenson was also successful on the soccer pitch were he guided Oberlin to 43 straight wins during the mid 1950s.
After departing Oberlin, Stevenson went on to have a highly successful coaching career at Brown University. In fact the school has named its field in his honor, Cliff Stevenson Field, which has a capacity of 3,500 and is the home of the Bears' soccer and lacrosse programs.
