Tiffin, Ohio – The Oberlin College track and field teams competed at the Tiffin University Alumni Open on Saturday and the Yeomen and Yeowomen turned in many strong performances.
Former outdoor All-American
Sarah Voit made her first appearance of the season and picked up right where she left off, besting her own school record in the pole vault with a mark of 12-05.25 (3.79m), which currently ranks third in the nation. The sophomore, who finished second in the 17-person field, previous-best indoor clearance was 12-01.50 (3.70m).
Naeisha McClain placed sixth in the shot put with a conference-best throw of 42-01.25 (12.83m).
Maya English added a fifth-place finish in the weight throw, ending slightly back of her mark from last week as she covered 52-07.5 (16.04m). McClain was places behind English in the event with a heave of 49-01 (14.96m).
Clare Tiedemann had three personal-best performances on the afternoon, posting the fifth-best conference mark in the long jump at 16-02.50 (4.94m) while also recording the fourth-best time in the NCAC in the 200 meters at 28.11. She also took a crack at the shot put on this day, posting a mark of 21-08.75 (6.62m).
On the men's end,
Kofi Asare had a lifetime-best time of 23.63 in the 200-meters and moved into the top 10 in the conference in the long jump with a mark of 20-00.50 (6.11m).
Malachi Clemons was right on the heels of Asare in the 200 as he finished two spots back in 14
th place with a time of 23.89. While in the long jump, Asare ended just one spot ahead of teammate
Connor Hibbard who covered 20-00.25 (6.10m).
Junior
Victor Salcido placed 10
th in the 300, clocking in just shy of a personal-best at 38.68 while sophomore
Nathan Mendoza did earn a PR in the event with a 12
th-place showing in 40.68.
The Oberlin track and field teams will return to action on January 10 when they host the Dan Kinsey Invitational.
