Day One of the NCAC Championships is in the Books

Through six scored events the Oberlin College track and field teams each rest in fifth place. The Yeomen have amassed 23 points, while the Yeowomen have recorded 22.5 points.

“It was a good first day for us with many people qualifying for finals,” Head Coach Ray Appenhemier said. “I felt we put ourselves into position to have a great day tomorrow.”

Highlighting today's action was junior Josh Gallagher who turned in two all-conference performances. His discus toss of 149-06 was good for second place while his shot put heave of 48-08 placed him third in the 15-man field.

On the women's side junior Laura Vernon finished second in the pole vault as she cleared 9-07.25.

Tomorrow's full slate of action will get underway at 10 a.m.
