Track & Field Starts Outdoor Season

Final Results

Wooster, Ohio – The Oberlin College track and field teams kicked off their outdoor season in fine fashion at the Wooster Invitational on Saturday afternoon.

The Yeowomen placed third overall with 89 points, while the Yeomen checked in fourth 88 points.

Senior Clara Shaw guided the Yeowomen effort by winning two events on the day. She claimed the top spot in the 1,500 meters with an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 4:47.67. The Roseville, Minnesota, native also won the 5,000 meters in 18:20.88.

Sophomore Melissa Elie finished third in the 200 meters with a mark of 27.05.

The men's team got great performances from a wide array of individuals. Senior Seth Wimberly touched the tape first in the 200 meters at 22.62 and teammate Shawn Chrapczynski followed in second at 22.67. The Lorain, Ohio, native also placed second in the 100 meters at 11.43.

NCAC Cross Country Newcomer of the Year Eric Line ended third in the 1,500 meters in 4:10.47.

First-year Alex Guo was also victorious in the triple jump as he cleared 42-04.75.

Junior Josh Gallagher's toss of 46-09 of the shot was good for first place.

Oberlin continues its spring break at the Duke Invitational on April 2.
