Kent, Ohio - Multiple athletes posted lifetime best times on day two of the Kent State Golden Gala on Saturday.
Leading the Yeowomen effort at the non-team scored event was senior
Joanna Johnson. The Chico, California, native finished in fourth place in the mile with a personal-best time of 5:17.65
Sophomore
Marissa Clardy turned in an impressive performance in the 400 meters, placing 10th in the 50-runner field with a mark of 59.67.
First-year
Sophia Brancazio also made a strong collegiate debut by flying through the 200 meter dash in 26.55 to place 26th.
On the men's end sophomore
Alexander Guo continued his notable weekend with a lifetime best effort of 44-01.25 in the triple jump to finish in 11th place.
Classmate Terrence Embry checked in seventh in the 300 meters by stopping the clock at 36.20.
Rookie
Quinn Hull completed the 800 meters in 1:56.68 to place ninth out of 39 runners in the event.
“It was a good opening weekend for us and now we just build from this and continue to get better each day,” Head Coach
Ray Appenheimer said.
The Oberlin track and field teams will be back in action on January 14 when it hosts in first invite of the season.
