Berea, Ohio – The Oberlin College track and field teams recorded multiple victories at the non-team-scored Baldwin-Wallace Mid-January Invite on Saturday.

“We put together many strong runs and our effort was very good today,” Head Coach Ray Appenheimer said.

Highlighting the day for the Yeowomen was Joanna Johnson's school record-shattering run in the 3,000 meters as her time of 10:16.64. Johnson's efforts also won her the race by nearly 17 seconds.

Seniors Clara Shaw and Madeline Shultz were also a part of two wins on the day. Shaw claimed the top spot in the 800 meters with a timestamp of 2:19.12, while Shultz was victorious in the 400-meter dash with a mark of 1:02.29. The duo was also a part of the winning 4x400-meter relay team that completed the course in 4:10.53.

On the men's side, junior Solomon Turner had a tremendous meet as his legs played a role in three wins before things were all said and done. The Greensboro, North Carolina, native won the 200-meter dash in 22.91. He also ran the leadoff leg of the winning 4x200-meter (1:33.05) and 4x400-meter relay (3.27.69) teams.

Senior Seth Wimberly, who ran the anchor leg of both of the winning relay units, also won the 400-meters in 50.70.

Oberlin returns to action next Saturday at the NCAC Relay Meet, hosted by Denison University.
