Hiram, Ohio
– The Oberlin College Yeomen opened North Coast Athletic Conference play on the road at Hiram College this afternoon. The Yeomen and the Terriers would settle for a 1-1 double overtime final score.

Oberlin and Hiram battled for control of the match in the early minutes with both teams working hard to establish a rhythm. A wet field with on and off again rain created the right conditions for exciting fast paced soccer.

Hiram (5-3-1, 0-0-1 NCAC) took the lead scoring the go ahead goal eight minutes into the second half of play. The Terriers took advantage of a crossed ball to the back post where Cole Miller headed it into the goal.

Oberlin senior forward Skyler Dum added to his 2009 goal tally, notching his fifth goal of the season to even the score. Pete Sabo's pass split the Hiram defense and then Dum when to work and fired his shot past the Terrier keeper into the side netting.

The Yeomen looked to have taken the lead off a corner kick to the near post the Dan Jaffe headed on frame past the goalkeeper, however, a Hiram defender cleared the ball off the line to keep the score even.

Oberlin (4-2-2, 0-0-1 NCAC) was unable to capitalize on a couple of good chances in the two overtime periods.  Goalkeeper Zach Lipshultz recorded nine saves in 110 minutes in the net to keep Hiram at bay on their Homecoming.

The Yeomen return to Shults Field for a midweek non-conference match up versus Otterbein College, Wednesday, September 30th. The game kicks off at 7:00 p.m.
